Welcome to Orkney Hypnotherapy for weight loss, stopping smoking, sporting achievement, stress, anxiety, guilt, phobias etc.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural altered state of consciousness in which relaxation and concentration are combined. It is induced by the hypnotist talking to the client in a certain way. Simple arm levitation may be used as an aid to hypnotic induction.

What does it feel like ?

It’s a very relaxed state, and rather like day- dreaming. You are aware, yet not aware, of things going on around you.

Do people remember things afterwards ?

Usually people have full memory of the events afterwards. A few people do not recall what happened, or remember some of what happened

What is hypnotherapy ?

Hypnotherapy is an effective form of therapy, for all age groups, employing hypnosis to bring about beneficial change in behaviour, emotions and thoughts. In a state of deep relaxation, suggestions are given that "reprogram" the unconscious and conscious mind.

Will I lose control ?

At all times clients are in full control of the session and are never asked to do anything against their will.

What if I can’t be hypnotised ?

Hypnosis is a natural state. Only resistance will prevent the experience (5% fall into this category). It can be overcome by practice and trust.

How many sessions will it take ?

Many phobias, nightmares, snoring and Bruxism (teeth grinding) can be treated in one or two sessions. Problems which are complex may need a number of sessions. Giving up smoking and weight loss reflects the determination of each individual to break the habit – usually 1-5 sessions

What can hypnotherapy be used for ?

Hypnotherapy can assist with a wide range of topics including: weight loss, stopping smoking, stress, eating problems, addictions, confidence and self-esteem, aiding relaxation, driving tests, emotional problems, sporting achievement, anxiety, guilt, bedwetting, teeth-grinding in sleep, snoring, nightmares, insomnia, creativity enhancement, habits such as nail biting and thumb sucking etc., sexual dysfunction, exams, giving a speech, pre-menstrual tension, menopause, breast enlargement, bereavement, ending of relationships, fears and phobias, investigating apparent past lives and so on. The list is almost endless.

Possible exceptions

If your problem is physical in origin, please see your medical practitioner first. Serious mental disorder may require psychiatric rather than hypnotherapeutic assistance.
